Coming Out of My Shell and Some SEO Help for You (read to bottom)
Hi, y’all, what’s up? As you all know, I have big plans for converting this blog and I’ve just been sitting on my hands about it lately. THAT, and other things I should be working on. The deal is, though, I feel like I’ve focused too much on reviews (and giveaways) and not enough on story. You know about story, right? It’s the thing that makes your blog unique, your product stand out, your voice shine…etc. Effective today, I’m going to work on my story more, that is sharing it with you. I have a lot to say.
In fact, I realized that since the fits and starts and transition time (i.e., 2008) that I’ve started this blog, I’ve changed a great deal. I even thought I’d write a book, “Hippie Geek to Crunchy Christian: my journey in motherhood”. (Yes, that a tongue in cheek title
Starting today? Tomorrow? I’m going to keep doing Monday Giveaways, Wordless Wednesdays (I hope), and book review Fridays, but I’ll also do more of my own story and share shocking things I’m learning, thinking, and considering. I’d also like to explain:
- how I can be a liberal and a Christian, and how I freaked out to know that I embrace some ideas that some call conservation. Does that make me independent??
- questions about whether or not Zoe’s birth contributed to her disability
- my feelings on Guardasil, the Leroy 15, and my inner conflict about Andrew Wakefield
- the agony and ecstasy of homeopathic “cures” for autism and Down syndrome
- why Autism Speaks sucks just as back as Susan B. Komen
- why grocery shopping now makes me COMPLETELY sick
- abortion, miscarriage and the summer I almost quit blogging (as if)
Ok, fun stuff, right! LOL…well, this blog has stayed out of controversy for too long. And while I know some of my writings may lose me visitors, I hope that by sparking discussion on this stuff, I can also bring honest, open, nonjudgemental debate to the fore. I have friends from too many age groups, backgrounds, races, religious and non-religious persuasions, politics, and professional leanings to believe that we can’t have good, honest discussion without a hissy fit.
Now, it’s your turn. I’ve rambled on enough – what EXACTLY would you like to me share with you on this site? What tips, resources, discussions and controversies would you like to see on Mom-Blog that will keep you coming back and inviting friends? More on Gluten Free / Non Toxic Living? Info on raising Kids with Special Needs? Prayer Requests? Help with Becoming a Blogger? Share!
Need incentive? Ok, how’s this? You comment here (not on Facebook) with a concrete response to what you’d like to see (in complete sentences, please!) and I’ll give one lucky commenter, picked at random search engine optimization help with your blog. NOTE: You HAVE to tell me what you’d like to see 0r not see to be eligible. I’ll coach you for 30 minutes on what to do and what needs improvement, and answer your questions free of charge! Deal? Ok, go!
Here’s some inspiration for you too, the REASON I blog
:

Best of luck on your new adventures! I can’t wait to read more stories
Well, since I’m not a mom I think I’m exempt.. LOL. But I’d love to hear more about your thoughts on Autism Speaks as well as what homeopathic/functional med info you learn. That experience is, I think, important for all to hear. I think only through the sharing of info will we be able to be brave and wean off the traditional diet and medical protocols and way of life. It’s hard to know where to place trust (such as our doctors) when a lot is at risk. This Auntie of autistic boy is definitely interested. OK, he’s hardly a boy anymore… and wow, labels really rot.
Good to see you “coming out.” who knew?

I love that you are looking into homeopathic methods. I am not a parent of an autistic child, but I am an educator so I am certainly interested in your journey.

I always told myself that I’d probably never have one of those popular blogs because I’d like to stay away from too many reviews, giveaways, deals, I wanted to keep it real and share tidbits about me, my thoughts, my opinions, my family, my life, and so on, things that make people think, react and respond, and I think I’ve begun to fail myself. Your post is NOT just an inspiration or a light going on, it is a reminder that it is okay to BE YOURSELF. I have to learn to be more active with the blogs I do follow. Yes, I am a work in progress, but I enjoy how you write and get your thoughts out.
I’ve recently tried Gluten-Free, it was a challenge, but it was a great experience (1 month I did it), so I’d love to see like a weekly gluten-free recipe or meal soup to nuts, yeah that would be awesome!
