Yes, Sara, it feels great! And yes, the team is critical, when you have the luxury of choice. I never thought I could do this "hand's on" stuff, but I guess it's just how I was defining it (i.e., Homeschooling! Every single moment is teachable! Never let up!). To my happy surprise, I'm doing something right.

LOL! Yea, I think about that sometimes too, but I think the key is to let the stuff sink in. Everybody learns differently. For example, I went to private school and was always taught underlying "why's" RATHER than memorization. (Smooth sailing til I took Biology!) I can remember lots of things I learned, but nothing I memorized. Trust it's sinking in...

An awesome feeling- With a 14 year old that has been on one since Kindergarten, I sooooo can relate! It feels good, doesn't it? Being a hands on parent pays off in the short and long run.

I'm glad you got a great IEP and it sounds like you have a wonderful team for Amelia. I swear, half the battle is just finding the right placement for your child.

Kayla's school has a nature based curriculum. It's pretty cool, although sometimes I think they spend a bit too much time outside with the goats or taking nature walks, or feeding the aquarium animals instead of doing a bit more academic work.
