Advanced Mineral Foundation

As I strive to be more health-conscious with my beauty products, I’m always on the lookout for items that are non-toxic and still make me look good.  This can be tricky, and I was excited this week to get the chance to review Advanced Mineral Makeup.

The Good
I really liked this product.  I’ve been using loose powder for more than a year now, and it’s much more forgiving on older skin that clumpy liquid products.  Advanced Mineral’s Loose Mineral Foundation is really a step up from the low and middle end loose powders and I noticed a difference as soon as I put it on my face.  The foundation is silky smooth and gave me a natural glow.  I also liked that this was truly nude, rather than a pink or beige tone like the other products.  Finally, the foundation comes with a closeable top.  That is, you twist the inside cover to shake out your desired amount of powder and then twist back to seal up the rest.  This is a simple, but much-needed mechanism to keep your powder in your case, rather than all over your make up bag.

One thing I really liked about this makeup is that it is free of talc, perfumes, parabens, dyes, starch, bismuth oxycloride, and preservatives, and is 100% vegan.  This is called a “4-in-1″ product, which serves as powder, foundation, sunscreen of SPF30, and concealer.  It’s alos “non-comedogenic,” which means it will not block your pores, and it contains Vitamin A and E.

The Bad
I looked on the site and it’s pricey: $35 for the foundation.  Loose foundation goes a bit faster than the liquid kind, so keep that in mind – the website says it should last 3-4 months.  If that’s the case, the price is not too bad.  It’s a good-sized product, however, and again, the closeable lid will help preserve it.  I didn’t like that they don’t provide the full ingredient list on the site or product, and one other caveat: you will most likely have to buy it online.  They list locations, but it’s only available in a few states.

Overall Opinion

makekup comparison

If you ask me, the Advanced Mineral side look smoother, less blotchy and has a glow.  This is just pure foundation on me with any concealer.  I enjoyed this product;  it’s certainly one of the better quality products I’ve reviewed (possibly the first makeup as well).  I recommend it and if you can be careful and make it last, it’s well worth the price.

Disclaimer: I received a sample of this product to facilitate my review.  All opinions are my own.

I really should try this sometime – it’s been a very long time since I’ve worn any foundation (just concealer and eye makeup) because of the very reasons you’ve mentioned about the ‘other’ kind. ;) The mineral powder does look smoother and glow-y! :)

Yes, I’m so happy I tried! If you can find trail samples, you’ll see the diff. This brand stayed on my face longer than the other big name brand.

Yea, eco-friendly beauty products are USUALLY off the charts, price-wise. I buy them because I’ve managed the skill of making them last FOR-EVER.

Interesting! It’s true, everyone reacts to something different, even the harmless stuff. I once tried a product that was VERY highly touted, and it gave me broccoli skin!
