Potty Training the Older Child – the Party Begins!

That’s the potty she likes!
(From my Amazon link.)

This weekend, we decided to re-start the potty training process with Zoe again – with the help of Pull-Ups.  So far, it’s been challenging, but at Thanksgiving, we found Zoe sitting on Olivia’s potty – my  nephew’s 2 year old.  It seems her potty had a bright, shiny flusher, and I found Zoe in there, using everything properly.  No success on actual peeing, but she did follow this procedure for a little while on our regular toilet after returning home.

I think buying a potty with a flusher like this is probably a good idea.  We’ve had so little success, but with our latest treatments, maybe Zoe will start to “feel” when she has the need.  We’ve tried putting her on it but she won’t go when we try to get her there.

I also think the timing is wonderful.  We’ve changed up some treatment and seem to now be better with toileting issues.  Can this lead to her feeling the sensation?  I hope so!  Going to gear up with allowing her a favorite toy only if she goes to the potty … and unlimited water drinking.  :)

To that end, we’re going to be hosting a  Pull-Ups “Why Wait – Let’s Celebrate! First Flush Party”.  It’ll be a major thing for her to get control of this – and the school will love us.  (I’m thinking a certain amazing cupcake company I know will make the dessert!)  I’ll be inviting some mamas of special kiddos, or possibly some kids who haven’t potty trained yet.  It’ll be January 19th, so it’ll be a mini-party before Amelia’s birhtday!

Interested in hosting your own “First Flush” In-Home Party?  Check it out – but hurry, you must sign up before the end of December!

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Pull-Ups. I received product samples to facilitate my review and to host a party. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

If I didn’t have so much going on right now, I would consider hosting! My friend did a shutterfly one a while back and it was fun. Good luck!!!

It’s taken us a lot longer :) But that is a sensory issue, she’s also insecure about not having a Pull-Up on I think! Yes, the flusher is a great idea.

True! I try to be eco-conscious in as much as I can be. We are fairly all-natural so it’s not too hard, but there are a few things where I have to give, like Pull-Ups and light bulbs :)

Im struggling right now with my littlest. He does NOT seem to get the concept of telling me he has to go. He goes if I ask but thats it. The flusher seems like an awesome idea to encourage him to go himself :-)

Is he “feeling” the urge? Maybe he’s not yet. Or does he understand what that feeling means? It’s a critical step. Have you checked out Elmo’s Potty Time Video? Does a nice job of explaining the urge to go. HTH!
