I spend up to 12 hours a day at the computer. As I get older I have noticed my eyes getting worse and eye strain begins to happen much quicker now. With my phone, desktop, laptop, and numerous other digital items I use on a daily basis, I’m afraid that if I don’t keep up with my visits and new eyewear I won’t be able to see a thing in a few years! Thanks for the opportunity to win this oh so necessary prize!

I worry about eye strain which causes me to get terrible headaches, migraines sometimes. I LOVE to blog so I just deal with it…I really hope I win this!!!

  4. christy

Staring at a computer all day is making my eyes hurt and i think my vision is getting worse.

  5. Jennifer

I really worry about the headaches I receive after using the computer for a while. I am really overdue for an eye exam, and I really hope I can win this giveaway because I checked and there is a doctor nearby that I can use for this.

I worry about the strain on my eyes from using the computer….I also worry about the effects that video games have on my sons eyes!

What worries me most about technology and eye strain is that we use technology more now than ever, but there’s no long term studies done on the dangers and pitfalls of doing so.

  8. cyndi br

eye strain when the computer screen is to bright or I use the computer without a light on in the room

  9. Maria D.

My big concern is weakening my long-distance vision by looking at closer-distance stuff too exclusively. Thanks for the 20/20/20 reminder, and for the giveaway!

  10. Mami2jcn

I’m concerned about the long term damage that might be done on my eyes from being in front of the computer so much.

  11. Giant Sis

I think I don’t blink as often when I’m staring at a monitor – causing my eyes to be dry a lot. It’s not good when you wear contacts!

  12. Debbie Whitlock

I worry about looking at the close screen all day. I’m over 50 and lately I have to hold menus further and further away to read them!

  13. Katherine

I worry that my already poor, near-sighted eyes are getting worse. As a college student, I spend a lot of time at the computer doing research and typing papers.

Eye health is very important to me. I am legally blind without corrective lenses and the amount of time I spend on my computer a day is causing them to get worse by the day. My worry is that soon they will be too far gone for Lasik, which I really just need to break down and get.

My husband works on a computer all day and he hasn’t had his eyes checked in years. I am worried about the strain on his eyes that has probably been happening for a long time and he’s just so used to it, he doesn’t realize!
This would be a great incentive for a visit to an eye doctor.

  18. barb@blogfully

I hate that, because my kids and I are on the computer all day, that we are straining them beyond repair. We all have issues with dry eyes and irritated ones because we stair at a computer screen all day–I’m definitely going to work the 20/20/20 rule into our “computer timing”.

  19. Noreen

I worry that they will stain my eyes so in addition to being near sited I will also be far sighted

  20. Brynn Dexter

I really worry about headaches because that is more pain pills to take and I don’t like taking those unless necessary plus headaches take you out for a good portion of the day. I sit in front of a computer screen for work all day then come home to check for deals, coupons and giveaways which are definantly worth it but wish there was a way to avoid the headaches that sometimes occur

  21. Aubrie

Backlight reading! –it is so difficult to read electronically with the contrast of light. : /

  22. Terry

My biggest concern is macular degeneration. My Dad unfortunately suffers from it and there is no cure.

  23. Shauna Epting

My eyes are getting worst daily. i spent about `6 hours a day in front of a computer and it is catching up. Side note _ what a great giveaway. i really need new glasses and they are not cheap.

  24. Laura V.

I worry about my eyes being affected because I use the computer so much. My eyesight is already pretty bad. My great-grandfather became legally blind several years before he passed away, and my grandfather is now almost legally blind also. I’m afraid because I use the computer, it will make my eyes worse earlier than ever.

  25. Jenn K

All my work is done at the computer, and I’m on the computer a lot at home too. Sometimes I get headaches and have trouble focusing . . . :(

  26. Jessica

I haven’t thought much about eye strain…I spend a few hours a day on the computer, although not all at once. I do find that my eyes get tired toward the end of the day. I haven’t had an eye exam in four years and my current pair of glasses is 7 years old and really showing some wear. I could really use this!

  27. Annabelle

I am on my computer/ipad a lot and my eyes are tired by the end of the day…I especially notice the tiredness when I’m wearing my contacts. It’s not as bad with my glasses.

  28. Ashley

I’m always concerned that being in front of the computer all day will make my eyesight worse.

  29. Melissa

I spend a lot of time in front of the computer at a job that doesn’t offer vision insurance. I’ve already noticed deteoriation in my eyesight and I’m worried that it will continue!

  30. Christy

Computer eye strain & headaches is my biggest concern but it seems to me that our “reading” has just changed. Before computers, people read books and magazines in their spare time much like people play handheld games and read on devices now.

My son lost vision and dental coverage this year so affordability is a huge issue for a new adult trying to save for college but still needing glasses. He actually has an exam scheduled for the 4th of August and the exam is $89. He would love to get new frames instead of just new lens but says he’ll have to see what he can swing.

This would be great for him.

  32. Sammi

What worries me most is that it’s so unknown – studies can’t really say yet what any problems are with computers and eyestrain

  33. Keinv

Computers and their brightness strain on the eyes worry me. I have astigmatism and am always on the computer so it worries me.

  34. Betty

I worry about eyestrain where the eyes are focused at the same length for long periods of time. We used to worry about kids sitting too close to the TV but now people are focused on tiny smartphone screens, laptops, and of course TVs.

  35. wendy wallach

I worry that my eyes will have problems as I grow older that medicine is not prepared to address due to todays technology

    madamerkf at aol dot com

  36. Amanda D.

I worry about the strain on my daughter’s eyes when she watches TV, plays a computer game, or plays her DS. I don’t want her eyes to weaken.

  37. Cathy B

I am very worried about eye strain and todays technology. I recently had to go to the drs because of decreasing eyesight and eye/head pain. The diagnosis wasnt good… eye strain, decrease in vision field, opthamalogic migraines ( migraines that happen from blood in and behind the eye…this one was scary when it happened… The problem is, my insurance covered my visit(except $25) but wont cover the necessary eyeglasses…. so I continue to have eye problems… and for someone who is mostly bedridden due to spinal cancer, and someone who uses the web 10+ hours daily… you can imagine the eye strain… Reviewing and winning these glasses would be a true gift!

I really worry about my husbands eyes! He is on the computer all day everyday with work and I see signs that he is having eye trouble. I would love to win this prize as a way to force him to go get his eyes checked!!!!

  39. BeautyToLove

-I’m on the computer a lot, and also wear contact lenses. What worries me the most with technology and eye strain is headaches and my vision getting worse. Staring at the computer screen for long periods of time is not good for your eyes. I get headaches constantly, and I think a lot of them are caused from staring at the computer screen. I try to give my eyes a break often by looking away from the screen for a short period of time.
Getting Eye Exams yearly is very important, and everyone should make sure that they have them done.
